The
Guildford and South West Surrey Voluntary Group
has been running successfully
for over twenty years. The Group has two primary aims:
Support and Information
-
to keep local people with diabetes
informed through our newsletter, website and regular meetings as how best to look after
themselves.
Fundraising
– to
help Diabetes
UK and local causes work towards providing the best care for people with diabetes.
We have a strong tradition of fundraising both for Diabetes UK and for local services and were instrumental in initiating the fundraising for the CEDAR Centre at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, opened after 10 years of campaigining.
We have close links with the Royal Surrey County Hospital - Professor David Russell-Jones is our president - and with NHS Surrey.
Members of the Group are involved on the Primary Care Trust Diabetes Local Implementation Team and the Surrey Diabetic Retinopathy Screening Programme, representing people with diabetes.
